Sales Office Manager


Newgate has an exciting opportunity for a technically minded Sales Office Manager.

Role Purpose

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Sales Office Manager is a key member of Newgate’s management team, you will collaborate with all areas of the business and should be prepared to take initiative whilst continually improving processes and operational activity.

With strong business acumen and sound technical understanding, you will work alongside the Leadership Team to drive forward Newgate’s strategy to deliver growth across both new business and existing accounts; with the goal of placing the Newgate brand in-front of our market competitors.

Responsible the for the leadership and development of the sales operations team, as well as a team of Business Development Managers; you will be key to motivating the teams to meet company revenue targets and exceed customer expectations.

Job Duties

  • Maximise our sales team’s potential in order to drive growth and hit sale’s targets by successfully driving new areas.
  • Crafting sales plans, and justifying those plans to senior management.
  • As part of customer acquisition; enter new markets, using a variety of traditional and digital/social media
  • Ensure an effective lead generation process is in place and delivering Newgate ROI.
  • Deliver convertible leads within corporate/distributors organizations.
  • Become preferred suppliers in new markets, with specific focus on corporate and distribution organisations.
  • Ensure an effective sales process is in place to generate leads, manage enquiries and quotations, and process customer orders accurately and timely.
  • Ensure external sales team are supplying the estimator with clear structure information to be able to produce accurate quotations first time.
  • Ensure special order requirements are correctly costed prior to quotation being generated.
  • Ensure internal sales team are producing accurate figures for quotations, and customer orders, with costings regularly checked and managed.
  • Prepare and submit PQQ and tender documentation
  • Manage construction contracts
  • Support the team with quotes when needed
  • Produce regular reports on revenue, and realistic forecasting to the management team.
  • Identify emerging markets and market shift, while being fully aware of new products and Ensure advertising and marketing is delivering a strong ROI.
  • Ensure all relevant systems/company records are accurate and up to date.
  • Manage day-to-day staff matters; absence management, performance management, identify and action coaching needs, and address internal issues, with support of HR and senior managers.
  • Work towards a shared vision within the sales team, ensuring strong communication with other departments, to increase morale and confidence in the sales department.
  • Ensure all health and safety policies and procedures are followed.

Skills, Knowledge and Behaviours

  • Extensive experience leading Sales teams and driving strategic growth
  • Commercial awareness with strong business acumen and professionalism
  • Financially astute and highly numerate with the ability to present data
  • A strong technical understanding of mechanical engineering
  • Able to influence at a senior level
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral)
  • Ability to create relationships, build rapport and trust across teams, colleagues and clients
  • Hands on approach with an infectious ‘can-do’ attitude
  • Intermediate level skills using Microsoft Office product
  • Experience of using SAGE would be desirable but not essential
  • Effective time management skills
  • Effective problem-solving skills
  • Willingness to travel.
  • UK Driver’s License.
