The public were invited to come up with a name for this new Bridge. The names proposed included:
- Canal parks Bridge
- Caledonian Crossing
- Great Glenn Crossing
- Holm Mills Bridge
- Ness West Crossing
- Torvean Bridge
- West Link Bridge
- Whin Bridge
After much deliberation and many votes from the public the bridge was finally named – Holm Mills Bridge.
