This bridge, the Garscube Bridge (built in 1928) located on the A81, across the river Kelvin in Dunbartonshire, is to be equipped with electric sliding gates.
The proposed gates will be the Newgate type 3 design, but heavily modified to accept the arduous conditions of the site, predominantly vandalism & pedestrian safety.
Not just bells and whistles, but in this case bigger bells and more whistles (vandal proof of course.)
